NPL Cricket League has eight franchises, and they carry the real team names of Nepal's T20 franchise league. In our Nepal cricket game, each team has a region, a home city, a game venue, a motto and its own way of playing. Here is who you'll be playing for, and who you'll be playing against.

Real names, our own art, fictional players

A few things to be clear about before you meet the teams:

  • The names are real. Each team in the game uses the name of a franchise in Nepal's T20 league.
  • The art is ours. The crests, colours, kits and game venues you see in NPL Cricket League are our own designs. They are not the franchises' logos or kits.
  • Official logos only with permission. We will only use a franchise's official logo after that franchise gives us written permission.
  • The players are fictional. Every squad is made of players we created for the game.

Everything below about how a team plays describes the team in the game. It isn't a claim about the real clubs, their players or their results.

How the league works

Every season follows the same simple shape:

  • A double round-robin. Each franchise meets every other franchise twice, for 14 league matches.
  • Top four to the playoffs. The four best sides on the table go through.
  • A final. Two teams left, one trophy.

In league season mode you pick one franchise and take it through all 14 matches against Lumi AI, then into the playoffs, with your progress saved online. This is the game's own format, built for the game. Like everything else here, it is in development.

Eight regions, eight game venues, eight different ways to win a T20.

Kathmandu Gorkhas

Region: Bagmati · Home city: Kathmandu · Game venue: Valley Ground

"Brave from the first ball." In the game, the Gorkhas bring an aggressive top order and quick bowlers who attack the stumps. They carry the capital's noise into every powerplay. Meet the Kathmandu Gorkhas

Pokhara Avengers

Region: Gandaki · Home city: Pokhara · Game venue: Lakeside Oval

"Every loss gets answered." In the game, the Avengers play the long game under the Annapurna skyline. A spin-heavy attack squeezes the middle overs, and patient batting saves its acceleration for late. Meet the Pokhara Avengers

Chitwan Rhinos

Region: Bagmati · Home city: Bharatpur · Game venue: Narayani Park

"Hard to stop once we charge." From the plains by the Narayani, home of the one-horned rhino. In the game, the Rhinos have big hitters in the middle order and a deep all-round squad. They build slowly, then charge at the death. Meet the Chitwan Rhinos

Biratnagar Kings

Region: Koshi · Home city: Biratnagar · Game venue: Eastern Arena

"The east comes to rule." In the game, the Kings lead with a pace-first attack that hunts early wickets. They open with fire and expect everyone else to keep up. Meet the Biratnagar Kings

Janakpur Bolts

Region: Madhesh · Home city: Janakpur · Game venue: Mithila Stadium

"Strike like lightning." From the city of Mithila art and temples. In the game, the Bolts play bright, bold cricket: fast scorers, mystery spin, reverse sweeps, carrom balls and big finishes. Never predictable. Meet the Janakpur Bolts

Karnali Yaks

Region: Karnali · Home city: Birendranagar · Game venue: Highland Ground

"Built for the high ground." From Nepal's high west, where yaks carry loads over the passes. In the game, the Yaks are the best fielding side, backed by disciplined bowling. They never tire: they wait for one mistake, then pounce. Meet the Karnali Yaks

Lumbini Lions

Region: Lumbini · Home city: Siddharthanagar · Game venue: Siddhartha Ground

"Calm minds, loud roar." From near Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. In the game, the Lions have elegant stroke-makers and a crafty slower-ball attack. They stay calm under pressure and roar when it counts. Meet the Lumbini Lions

Sudurpaschim Royals

Region: Sudurpashchim · Home city: Dhangadhi · Game venue: Far West Arena

"The far west, royally." From the far west, where the Mahakali marks the border. In the game, the Royals are death-over specialists and fearless chasers. They love a chase, and the closer it gets, the better. Meet the Sudurpaschim Royals

Choosing your side in a Nepal cricket game

There's no wrong pick. Some players will go with their home region. Others will choose a style: pace with the Biratnagar Kings, spin with the Pokhara Avengers, a big finish with the Sudurpaschim Royals. Every squad is made of fictional players with their own attributes and traits, so each team really does play differently.

Have a look around the team pages, pick a favourite, and when pre-registration opens, tell us which side you're backing.
